Description

Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and the second largest. It is unique in that it has a system of visible planetary rings made up of dust and ice particles.

About every 15 years, we pass through the plane of the rings and the rings appear very thin (if at all). This occurred last in December of 2008 and this picture was taken then.
